Editorial use only. The statue of Queen Charlotte, for which the city of Charlotte was named. The Queen Charlotte statue stands at the entrance to The Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The  Queen Charlotte statue, by Raymond Kaskey, was dedicated to the City of Charlotte in 1990. The artist intended for Queen Charlotte to look as if supported by the wind. Kaskey also created the statues on the square in uptown Charlotte that are synonymous with Charlotte NC.
